It can search for every word that appears on the grid, look for a set of words that covers the board, or read a word from a group of tiles marked as a hint. This is different from a simple answer page. An answer page gives the finished solution, while Strands Solver works on the board itself. It helps show how letters connect and why certain words may be possible.

What the Solver Can and Cannot Do

Strands Solver is engineered to scan the entire 48-letter matrix, mapping out valid path networks for both the yellow Spangram and standard blue theme words. In addition to locating primary solution paths, the tool identifies bonus non-theme words across any custom or standard 6x8 board, helping players maximize their in-game hint meters efficiently.

At the same time, the solver has a few basic limits. It requires manual letter entry and cannot process direct screenshot uploads or correct typos in the input grid. While it provides instant structural clarity when a board feels completely blocked, it is designed to complement personal strategy rather than replace the fun of solving.

How Does Strands Solver Work?

Using Strands Solver takes just a few seconds. Players type the 48 letters from their 6x8 game board and follow these simple options to get the exact level of help they need:

Solve the Board

When players click “Solve the board”, the tool automatically processes the grid to generate every possible word combination that covers the whole board. It lists valid English words containing four or more letters (such as GAZEBO, SHADE, POND, CRAY, REPO, GAIN, BOOL, VARNA, WEIL, PROB, ANUS) and highlights them directly on the grid layout. Some of these words may match the theme words “Outdoor Retreat”, while the others are non-theme vocabulary. The Spangram isn’t revealed in this option, so players can still discover the main theme connection on their own.

List Every Word

This option scans your board and generates a complete list of all valid English words hidden within the grid. It arranges matching vocabulary by length, from long terms like ANSWERING and PONDERING down to shorter words, and displays the exact letter count next to each word chip. This detailed list helps you discover potential theme words, find high-value vocabulary, and quickly identify extra non-theme words.

Read a Hint

If players receive an official hint on the board but cannot figure out how to connect the letters to spell the word, this option will help pinpoint the exact word on the grid. Players click a tile once to mark it as already found, twice to mark it as part of a hint, and a third time to clear it.

When Should Players Use a Strands Solver?
